Dental Practice in Australia

Two streams of dentistry co-exist in Australia; private practice and government-funded dental services.  The former, offers all clinical treatment to patients of all age groups who pay for the full cost of service provision, or who are privately insured and recoup part of the costs. Private practitioners in general would treat 10-20 patients per 8 hour day.

Only a select few have access to Government funded dental treatment and long waiting lists usually apply. Although various initiatives are introduced from time to time to provide access to dental care to more Australians and our dental system continues to evolve with more changes on the way.

Dental recruiting agencies welcome candidates on various working and student visas, and are pleased to introduce applicants to the Australian dental market. It is evident that dental job-seekers are well received in both the private and government sectors.
